I guess that it's this sort of thing people mean when they say "it was a simpler time." When men ate nothing but meat, battled all the time, and relied on their women for pretty much everything except oxygen.
In our sissified era, when I can eat stuff like lentil loaf and shitake mushrooms and still walk upright, thinking I am a man or something, does Beth ever look up at me like this?
And, it looks a little like this woman is actually looking up over where the man's head would be.
I am also looking for fun. I wish I had a man whose massive meat-packed body could not be contained by the mere frame of an illustration.
As for the child bride, her eyes are raised to the Source of All Meat. She needs all the help she can get.
Are we sure "meat" isn't a euphemism? Does anyone really want to be sent off and welcomed home with bacon? And who's serving the third daily helping of fun?
I want to be sent off and welcomed home with bacon. Bacon, mashed potatoes, and ice cream...heaven.
